Glasgow International Comedy Festival has revealed its first acts for 2027, with Alan Carr, Susie McCabe and Mike Wozniak among the headliners. The festival runs from March 10 to 28, bringing stand-up, cabaret, improv and more to venues across the city. Organisers say further programme announcements are still to come.

Key takeaways

  • The festival returns to Glasgow from March 10 to 28, 2027.

  • Alan Carr, Susie McCabe, Mike Wozniak and Fascinating Aïda are among the first names announced.

  • Shows will span major theatres and comedy venues, with registration open to acts and venues until November 20.

The first announcement mixes established performers with Scottish acts and emerging talent, building on a 2026 festival that drew more than 62,000 people to 636 shows and events.

Headliners bring new shows to Glasgow

Alan Carr will perform three sold-out dates at the King’s Theatre with his new show, Have I Said Too Much?. The set promises his trademark oversharing, including stories from his appearance on The Celebrity Traitors. Also at the King’s Theatre, Susie McCabe will perform Myth Informed over two nights, following a successful Edinburgh Fringe run.

Taskmaster and Man Down star Mike Wozniak brings The Bench to the festival. Cabaret trio Fascinating Aïda will perform Bawdacious!, a new show featuring songs with satirical and political bite. Connor Burns is also booked for two headline performances at the SEC Armadillo.

Scottish comedy takes centre stage

Local talent features prominently in the first wave. Rosco McClelland will bring The Bones to the Citizens Theatre, while Kim Blythe returns there with Puzzle after a sold-out run last year. Mark Black’s Horrible Family combines music and comedy, and Tartan Tabletop offers an improvised adventure for Dungeons & Dragons fans.

Chris Forbes, known for Scot Squad and The Other Murray Brother, will perform Father Christmas at Oran Mor. The show won the inaugural McTavish Award for best Scottish comedy show at the Edinburgh Fringe. Other announced acts include Irish comics Neil Delamere and Chris Kent, and Tatty McLeod at The Stand.

More than stand-up on the programme

The open-access festival is set to feature improv, musical comedy, live podcasts, family shows and other formats alongside stand-up. Kiell Smith-Bynoe will bring his audience-inspired improv show Kool Story Bro, with a surprise celebrity guest, while Los Angeles comedian Morgan Jay brings La Dolce Vita to the SEC Armadillo as part of his first UK arena tour.

The King’s Theatre, Oran Mor, The Stand, Citizens Theatre, SEC Armadillo and Glee Club are among the venues named so far. Festival director Krista MacDonald said the programme would include major headliners, rising stars and homegrown performers. Acts and venues can register to take part until November 20; organisers have yet to reveal the full programme.

For London comedy fans inspired by the announcement, Comedy in Your Eye offers professional live stand-up every Tuesday and Thursday at The Camden Eye in Camden Town. Its intimate pub setting is a different way to catch award-winning comedy close to home while Glasgow gears up for its festival run.
