What we say:

Ania Magliano has sold out for a second year in a row so you can't actually buy any tickets online but it's well worth turning up to see if there are any extra tickets on the door or checking the ticket office to see if there are any returns. You will not want to miss this future comedic superstar!

What they say:

To the hairdresser at [redacted] Salon: You can take my money. You can take my dignity. You can take too much off the ends. But you cannot take my right to talk about it every day on stage. This is a show about the worst haircut of Ania Magliano's life. Ania's critically acclaimed 2022 debut run sold out entirely in a week. She's supported Marc Maron, Cat Cohen and Ed Gamble, and writes for Amelia Dimoldenberg's Chicken Shop Date. Nica Burns, the Edinburgh Comedy Awards director, said: 'It’s been a brilliantly vibrant year with a very high standard of comedy across the Fringe.

'Our international, diverse group of shortlisted comedians come from a huge variety of backgrounds and their work embraces every type of comedy from clowning to pure stand-up, with many variations along the way. What they all do is make people laugh.'

SKY producer, Adnan Ahmed, who head up the judges panel, said: 'The panel is delighted to announce such a strong list of funny shows. We’ve been wowed by the levels of joy and invention displayed by all of the performers and can’t wait to crown two worthy winners.'

The prize has been a staple part of the fringe, with a large cash prize of £10,000, offering hope and the chance of prosperity among the comedic hopefuls. However, after Dave's three festival deal came to an end, there was a huge worry that there would be no awards.

In the end SKY, DLT Entertainment and The Victoria Wood Foundation joined forces with Nica Burns to sponsor the prize.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Saturday.
