Archie Maddocks the award winning writer and comedian
Archie Maddocks is an incredible writer and comedian who has truly made his mark in the industry. His talent has been recognized in numerous stand-up competitions, where he has achieved remarkable success. In 2014, he reached the finals of both the New Acts of the Year and English Comedian of the Year competitions, showcasing his exceptional comedic abilities. Not stopping there, Archie also secured the runner-up position in the Amused Moose Laugh Off competition and claimed victory as the winner of the Bath New Act of The Year in the same year.
In 2016, Archie took his debut show, Shirts Vs Skins, to the renowned Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show received glowing reviews, propelling Archie's career forward. Following this triumph, he embarked on a tour of South Africa in 2017, sharing his comedic brilliance with audiences around the globe.
Archie's follow-up show, IlluminArchie, was an absolute hit among both critics and fans. Its success led to a London transfer, where it graced the prestigious stages of the Soho Theatre in 2017 and the VAULT Festival in 2018. The show truly captivated audiences, further solidifying Archie's position as a comedic force to be reckoned with.
Keeping up with his comedic endeavors, Archie recently delighted viewers as a guest on Comedy Central's Guessable? His infectious humour and wit undoubtedly left a lasting impression on both the audience and fellow comedians.
Archie is also an extremely talented write and has had the pleasure of seeing his work come to life at various esteemed venues such as Bush Theatre, Lyric Hammersmith, Orange Tree Theatre, Royal Court, and even the New Light Theatre in New York. His writing journey has been filled with exciting milestones.
In 2017, Archie's exceptional talent earned him a spot in the BBC Writers Room London Voices, and he was also selected to participate in the highly regarded 4Screenwriting course. Adding to his accomplishments, Archie had the honour of being named the writer in Residence at BBC Radio Drama London Production.
One of Archie's outstanding scripts, Furies, received recognition on the Brit List 2019 and is now in the process of being produced by Warp Films. Additionally, he has contributed two captivating radio plays to BBC Radio 4 - Blend in 2019 and Domino in 2020. Both of these productions were warmly received by audiences.
A notable triumph in Archie's career was the production of his play, A Place for We, at the Park Theatre. This play touched the hearts of many and garnered rave reviews, solidifying its status as a resounding success.
