Born and raised near San Francisco in a British and Salvadoran household, her comedy is a brilliant tapestry woven from the threads of her multicultural upbringing, offering whip-smart observations on the cultural clashes and quirks she has navigated her whole life.   

From a Backhanded Compliment to the London Circuit

Katie’s entry into the world of stand-up was wonderfully serendipitous. While taking an acting class, a classmate delivered the ultimate backhanded compliment: “You aren't that good at acting, but you should try stand-up”. That single comment sparked a career that took her from Los Angeles, where she attended the prestigious UCLA, to London, where she decided her Master's Degree in Latin American Studies would be "most useful".   

This move to the UK proved to be a masterstroke. After honing her craft in the US, she quickly established herself as a formidable presence on the British circuit, bringing a fresh voice and a wealth of experience that immediately set her apart. She even started "The Green Card Podcast" to document her experiences of moving to a new country during a lockdown, using the platform to connect with friends and fellow comedians.   

A Goofily Entertaining and Insightful Style

The charm of the Comedian Katie Green comedy lies in its blend of incisive, self-deprecating wit and goofy, relatable storytelling. She masterfully plays both sides of her heritage against each other, mining comedy gold from cultural stereotypes—from the non-confrontational nature of British break-ups compared to their red-blooded Latino counterparts to the UK's alleged aversion to intimacy and foreplay.   

Her debut Edinburgh Fringe hour, '¡Ay Mija!', was a perfect showcase of her style. Framed around the idea of throwing herself a 'doble' quinceañera at age 30, the show was an engaging and empowering reflection on her journey from a "weird outsider" teenager to a confident, assured performer. Her stories, which touch on everything from dating a would-be freestyle rapper to navigating her family dynamics, are delivered with an authenticity that makes her an incredibly endearing and entertaining comic.

Katie Green's talent has been recognised by some of the biggest institutions in comedy on both sides of the Atlantic. Before her move to the UK, she was already a seasoned festival performer, with features at HBO's Women in Comedy Festival, LaughFest, the Funny Women Fest, the San Diego Comedy Festival, and the Limestone Comedy Festival.   

Since arriving in London, her career has gone from strength to strength. In 2020, she was a Funny Women Finalist, a huge nod to her rising-star status. The pinnacle of her achievements so far came in 2022, when she beat hundreds of other hopefuls to secure a coveted spot in The Pleasance Comedy Reserve at the Edinburgh Festival, one of the most prestigious showcases for new talent in the world. She has also opened for global comedy superstars like Aziz Ansari, Matteo Lane, and Jonathan Van Ness, a testament to the high regard in which she is held by her peers.
