Best Live Stand Up comedy in London at comedy in your eye

If you are in London, you don't need to wait around for a world-class laugh. Comedy in Your Eye in Camden Town is widely considered one of the best independent comedy clubs in the capital.

Located in the iconic Camden Eye pub right opposite Camden Town station, we host TV-level comedians and rising stars every week. It is an authentic, intimate room where you can feel the energy of live performance just feet away from the mic—an experience you can't get in an arena. Best of all, our tickets start at just £3, and we offer incredible value deals like £6 for entry and a drink.

Who is Rob Beckett?

Robert Anthony Beckett, born on January 2, 1986, in Mottingham, London, is one of the UK's most popular comedians. Known for his unmistakable grin (and teeth), distinctive South London accent, and infectious energy, Beckett has risen from the comedy circuit to become a primetime TV star. He attended Coopers School in Chislehurst and Canterbury Christ Church University before working a series of admin jobs, experiences he often references to highlight his "normal bloke" credentials.

His breakthrough came in 2009 when he started performing stand-up. By 2012, he was hosting I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! NOW!, which introduced him to a mass audience. He is best known today as the co-host of the smash-hit podcast "Parenting Hell" with Josh Widdicombe, which has become a lifeline for parents across the country.

Beckett lives in South London with his wife Louise Watts (a history teacher) and their two daughters. His comedy is deeply rooted in his working-class background and the culture clash he now experiences as a wealthy celebrity living a middle-class life.

Rob Beckett's comedy style

Rob Beckett’s comedy style is high-energy observationalism delivered with a "cheeky chappie" persona. He is the ultimate "everyman." His material focuses on the mundane and the domestic—family holidays, the stress of parenting, his wife’s job, and his own physical appearance. He frequently jokes about his large teeth and his "giant head," using self-deprecation to endear himself to the crowd.

The "Giraffe" tour explores the theme of expectation versus reality. He jokes that his wife thinks he will struggle being away from the family on tour, but in reality, he is looking forward to the peace and quiet of a hotel room. He calls his children "podcast content providers," acknowledging how his private life has become his primary source of material.

Beckett is also a master of crowd work. He engages directly with the audience, often bantering with the front row in a way that feels like a chat in a pub rather than a performance. His style is relentless and loud, but always good-natured.

Rob Beckett's comedy career

Beckett’s career began in 2009, and he quickly won several new act competitions. His debut solo show, Rob Beckett's Summer Holiday, at the 2012 Edinburgh Fringe was a success. He became a team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats in 2016, a role that showcased his quick wit and ability to handle heckling.

He has narrated Celebs Go Dating since 2016, providing sarcastic commentary that became as popular as the show itself. Together with Romesh Ranganathan, he stars in the Sky series Rob & Romesh Vs, where the two friends attempt various challenges (from ballet to drag) with hilarious results.

His Parenting Hell podcast, launched during the 2020 lockdown, exploded in popularity, leading to a live arena tour for the podcast itself. His stand-up tours, Mouth of the South and Wallop, were sell-outs, and Giraffe continues this trend with a massive Palladium residency. He has also authored a memoir, A Class Act, discussing class mobility and mental health.
