Sony SAB is set to introduce the Indian adaptation of the acclaimed UK comedy-drama "Shameless," titled "Itti Si Khushi." This new series, produced by Rose Audio Visuals, promises to bring the raw and relatable storytelling of the original to a Mumbai setting.
A New Take on a Global Hit
The Indian version of "Shameless" will premiere on Sony SAB on August 18th. The show, set against the backdrop of Mumbai, centres on a young woman who becomes the unexpected head of her family, navigating the challenges of a crumbling home. The original "Shameless," created by Paul Abbot and Company Pictures, enjoyed an impressive 11-season run in the UK from 2004 to 2013 and also spawned a successful US adaptation.
Key Cast and Production Details
Lead Role: Sumbul Touqeer stars as the eldest sibling, taking on the responsibility of her family.
Supporting Cast: Varun Badola plays the alcoholic father, while Rajat Verma is cast as the protagonist's love interest.
Production Shift: BBC Studios was initially slated to produce the adaptation but has since ceased its production activities in India. Rose Audio Visuals, founded by Bollywood director Goldie Behl, has taken over production.
Global Distribution: All3Media International, holding the rights to the original series and format, is managing the international sales for "Itti Si Khushi.
