The Queen of Clown and Comedy - it's Julia Masli!
Julia Masli is one big bundle of childish joy that is always a favourite with crowds and one of the must performers at the Edinburgh Fringe!
She's an incredible clown with a unique blend of Eastern European, Baltic, and Balkan influences. Originally from Estonia, she's now proudly settled in London.
The Guardian has crowned her the "maestro of the art form," while The Telegraph is singing praises about her "gift for physical comedy." And The Scotsman describes her as a "mesmeric performer."
Back in 2019, Julia teamed up with The Duncan Brothers to bring us the smashing hit show "Legs." They wowed the crowd and even took home The Malcolm Hardee Award for Comic Originality. And yep, they packed the house at Soho Theatre too!
But wait, there's more to her story. Julia joined forces with The Pushkinettes for "Anna Karenina Na Na," earning a nomination for an Off West End Theatre Award. And don't forget about "Logs," the follow-up to "Legs," which had everyone rushing to the Soho Theatre in 2021.
Now, let's talk about her solo masterpiece, "CHOOSH!" This debut clown show became a sensation at the Edinburgh Fringe, winning hearts and selling out the entire run. The Guardian listed it as a top comedy show not to miss at the festival. And guess what? The tour was a blast, spanning the UK and beyond, thanks to major support from the Arts Council, England.
Hold on to your hats – Julia's teaming up with the incredible Angela De Castro (yes, the genius behind the green clown in 'Slava's Snowshow') for an exciting new duo performance.
Julia's show "ha ha ha ha ha ha ha" is creating waves as one of the Telegraph's Top 10 Comedy shows at the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe and even got nominated for SKY best show of the fringe. And let's not forget the Comedy Breakthrough Award nomination for an early version of the show at https://vaultfestival.com/events/julia-masli-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-wip/VAULT Festival 2023.
But that's not all, folks! Julia's teaming up with Viggo Venn, the 2023 Britain's Got Talent winner, for a national tour. You can catch them everywhere, from London's West End at the Shaftesbury Theatre to various venues across the country.
Oh, and did I mention Julia's an awesome teacher too? She's shared her expertise at fantastic places like Ecole Philippe Gaulier theatre school in France, Drama Studio London, Arts Ed Drama School, and even through her own captivating clown workshops.
So, if you're up for some laughter therapy or eager to learn the art of clowning, Julia Masli is the name you need to remember!
